CM directs DGP to take steps to reduce stress among forces
With several incidents of security personnel killing colleagues over petty issues, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has told the Director General of Police (DGP) to take special steps to reduce mental stress among the police force and paramilitary troopers.
An official release said that the Chief Minister pointed out the violent incidents occurred due to minor disputes. The family members end up regretting the loss of their loved ones, which is a matter of concern for everyone.
Baghel said that the security personnel are working in unusually taxing and challenging conditions. Their higher work load arising due to Covid-19, keeping distance from family members and lack of entertainment was generating tension, stress and depression among them.
Therefore, it is vital that a conducive environment is created in the working place of the jawans.
Baghel suggested providing regular counselling of psychologists to the security personnel. This would help cut down their stress.
It is important they should not feel home sick. Accordingly, the process of providing leave should be simplified.
The jawans can be also involved in yoga as well as sports and entertainment activities. And their medical check-ups should be conducted at regular intervals, the Chief Minister underlined.
