CM flags off boat competition

A unique boating race was held at the Mahadev Ghat on the Kharun river here on Monday to mark the 60th birthday of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who flagged off the enthusiastic participants. Addressing the gathering, Baghel said a picturesque environment has been created similar to the Dal Lake in Srinagar. The Chief Minister appreciated the organizers for the innovative competition. The race was scheduled for 1 kilometer. The competitors had to cover 500 meters from the starting point, reverse and return to the point of origin.

There were 20 teams with two participants in each boat. The winners were Dharamraj Dhiwar and Neelkanth Dhiwar (First), Dev Kumar Dhiwar and Puran Dhiwar (Second) and Narhari Dhiwar and Kumar Dhiwar (Third).

The others were given consolation prizes.
