Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ongoing G7 Summit in Hiroshima city of Japan. This was the first meeting between the two leaders after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. Although Modi and Zelensky have spoken on the phone during the 15-month-long war.

There was also a conversation between the two leaders in Hiroshima. During this, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval was present. According to the information, Prime Minister Modi told Zelensky – Ukraine war is not an issue of economy and politics, but of humanity. India is ready to take every step to end this war.

Biden walks up to Modi’s seat, hugs Modi

US President Joe Biden met Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the start of the G7 meeting in Hiroshima. During this, he came up to his seat to meet Modi sitting among the world leaders and hugged him.

The next meeting of the two leaders was during the QUAD Summit in May 2022. The two then met in Germany in June 2022 during the G-7 Summit. Modi-Biden’s last meeting took place in November 2022 during the G-20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia.

Prime Minister Modi also met UK PM Rishi Sunak in Hiroshima. Prime Minister Modi also hugged him. During this, delegations from both the countries were also present. Sunak is the first Indian-origin and non-white Prime Minister of Britain. He is also the son-in-law of Narayana Murthy, co-founder of the Indian software company Infosys.

In Japan, Prime Minister Modi also met Padma Shri awardee Japanese writer Dr. Tomio Mizokami. Modi said that he has made a big contribution in taking Indian literature to Japan. Also, both the countries have come closer due to his efforts.

The Prime Minister met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz ahead of the G7 meeting. After this bilateral meeting, the Prime Minister shared his photo with the German Chancellor and described him as his friend.

Earlier, PM Modi met Prime Minister of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol. Bilateral talks were also held between the two leaders. Apart from this, he also met the Prime Minister of Japan, who is hosting the summit. Modi said that he had an excellent conversation with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida. We emphasized on further improving Indo-Japanese relations.

PM Modi unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hiroshima. Modi said, ‘Even today the world gets scared on hearing the word ‘Hiroshima’. I had the opportunity to unveil the statue of Mahatma Gandhi during my visit to Japan for the G7 Summit.’

Modi said that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hiroshima will further the idea of non-violence. The Bodhi tree that I gifted to the Japanese PM has been planted here in Hiroshima so that people can understand the importance of peace when they come here.
