Cabinet Sanctions 2431 New Posts in Police, Tribal Department

In a meeting chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state Cabinet has sanctioned 2431 new posts in police and tribal department, said an official release.

According to cabinet decision, 1500 new posts will be filled in police department with a view to make law and order arrangements and crime investigation more effective

Of them, 176 posts are of naxal-infested areas, 770 for police stations and 282 for police posts in four big cities – Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur, besides 282 posts for security forces in the newly constituted districts, said release.

These posts include one superintendent of police, 6 deputy superintendents of police, 20 inspectors, 2 subedars, 180 sub-inspectors, 220 assistant sub-inspectors, 336 head constables and 735 constables.

These ranks will put an additional annual burden of Rs 3788.50 lakh on state exchequer.

Similarly, 331 posts were sanctioned under special branch of police department for strengthening field units.

These include 2 deputy superintendents of police, 15 inspectors, 19 sub-inspectors, 85 assistance sub-inspectors, 94 head constables and 116 constables, said release.

These new departmental ranks, which will cost exchequer Rs 6.71 crore, will help in checking activities of terrorism, maintenance of law and order, and strengthening of intelligence network.

The cabinet sanctioned 600 new Class-IV posts in Tribal Development Department for hostels and ashrams being run by it.
