Pushkar to File Case for Damages
Sunanda Pushkar, a UAE based manager and a friend of Union minister of state Shashi Tharoor and is at the centre of IPL Kochi team controversy, is considering filing a case for damages and has hired a Dubai-based lawyer for the purpose, reports said.
There has been allegations that Pushkar has free equity worth 70 crore rupees in the Kochi franchise with Tharoor’s help.
Ashish Mehta, the advocate, confirmed that Pushkar sought his legal assistance, reports said.
“I write to confirm that Ms Sunanda Pushkar has engaged my professional services,” Mehta was quoted as saying in a written statement.
Mehta said that image of his client was tarnished and they would ‘seriously consider filing for damages’, said reports.
The lawyer insisted that her client was misinterpreted and that facts should be put straight, reports said.
According to him the reports that Pushkar was a beautician, spa owner or a socialite are untrue, said reports.
“Ms Pushkar has 20 years of hard core work experience,” reports quoted sources saying.
Pushkar made her fortune as an executive of a state-owned company in Dubai and has never been in the spa business, reports said.
“All this spa business is untrue. She has been an entrepreneur and businesswomen for long and that has brought her wealth,” an ex-colleague of hers was quoted as saying.
