Contraceptive Centres at Field Level Medical Institutions: Mishra
Minister for Public Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Anup Mishra has said that Contraceptive Corners will be set up at the field level medical institutions in the state with a view to effectively implementing family welfare programmes.
The minister also exhorted all the health workers to be committed to achieving the target of 7 lakh family planning operations during the year 2010-11.
He said that 2010-11 has been declared as the Family Welfare Year as per the wishes of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and is the responsibility of every officer and employee of the Health Department to implement family welfare schemes effectively.
Mishra said that Contraceptive Cell should be set up at all the medical institutions including primary health centres, district hospitals and community health centres at a place visited by most of the visitors to the hospital.
He said that a presentation of family welfare programmes should be arranged at this corner, which should be manned by a counsellor, an ANM and an LHV activist.
At the Contraceptive Corners, visitors will be briefed about preventing unwanted pregnancy, prevention from AIDS/HIV etc. In addition, extremely sensitive groups will be identified and motivated to adopt family planning.
The minister said that it will be the responsibility of the staff manning a Contraceptive Corner to send a monthly report about the works undertaken by them for making people aware of family planning and family welfare schemes.
Concerning health officers will be responsible to ensure arrangements and achievements.
