Krishna to Visit Pak on July 15 for Talks to Lessen ‘Trust Deficit’
External Affairs Minister SM Krishna will be visiting Islamabad on July 15 for talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi to hold discussions on the ways to lessen trust deficit between the two countries in compliance with the decision reached between Indian and Pakistani Prime Ministers in Thimphu, said media reports.
Qureshi gave invitation to Krishna during a telephonic conversation that covered a range of issues of bilateral and mutual interest, reports said.
In Thimbhu, during their meetings on the sidelines of the SAARC summit, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Yusuf Raza Gilani had asked their External Affairs Ministers and Foreign Secretaries to meet as soon as possible.
The two prime ministers had asked the Foreign Ministers and Foreign Secretaries to discuss ways to reduce ‘trust deficit’.
On Thursday, Krishna had said India had decided to have a dialogue as there has been a ‘transformation’ in ties with assurance coming at the level of Pakistan Prime Minister that India’s ‘core concern’ with regard to terrorism would be addressed adequately.
