Nithari Killings: Koli Sentenced to Death for Arti’s Murder
In Nithari case, domestic help Surender Koli has been sentenced to death by a special court in Ghaziabad, said media reports.
Koli has been convicted of the rape and murder of seven-year-old Arti from Noida’s Nithari village.
Arti, one of the 19 women and children whose body parts were found in a drain, had disappeared from her home in September 2006.
Out of the 17 chargesheets in the Nithari murder cases, main accused Koli and his employer MS Pandher were awarded death penalty by a lower court in Ghaziabad about a year ago in the first case of Rimpa Haldhar.
However, the Allahabad High Court upheld the lower court’s punishment given to Koli but gave a clean chit to Pandher, who was said to be away in Australia when Rimpa’s killing took place on his house.
