NABARD Chairman Lauds Madhya Pradesh for Rural Infrastructure Development

Chairman of National Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (NABARD) Umesh Chandra Sarangi has lauded the work of the state government for rural infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh fully utilizing the funds allocated to it, said an official release.

In a letter the chief secretary, Sarangi said that NABARD has sanctioned Rs 980 crore for rural development schemes in the state on the ground of its better report card, release said.

The NABARD chairman also underlined that the state government’s working for providing basic amenities in the rural areas is laudable and it became possible because of state’s leadership and their personal interest, said release.

He said that better results were achieved in the rural development process due to intensive review and monitoring and this is why the state could fully utilise the funds of Rs 803 crore allocated to it during the last fiscal, release said.

NABARD has set a target of providing Rs 980 crore to Madhya Pradesh this year for the development works of various departments.

The Finance Department has fixed the department-wise target for full utilization of funds by convening a meeting of heads of the concerning departments including Public Works, Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development and Public Health Engineering departments.

These departments have already started the process of achieving the targets, said release.

Soon, a meeting will also be held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Avani Vaish for giving a planned direction to the works to be undertaken and to make them result-oriented, release said.
