CM Instructs Police to Quickly Bring Criminals to Book
The government has issued instructions to accelerate the process of investigation in heinous, serious and sensational crimes to bring culprits to book, said an official release.
Chairing a meeting at the Mantralaya today for reviewing action on serious crimes, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed the police to take every possible effort to punish persons accused of serious crimes, release said.
He said that the district collectors should invoke the provisions of appointing an special prosecutor in such cases, if necessary, and chalk out and implement a time bound programme for increasing the strength of police personnel and modernizing the force, said release.
The chief minister sanctioned constitution of one battalion of Industrial Security Force, necessary construction works for upgrading present arrangements for police training, recruitment on 2700 additional posts in the police force and upgradation of police forensic and DNA laboratories, release said.
The meeting was informed that as on January 1, Madhya Pradesh fares better than national average in the pending cases of such heinous crimes as murder, culpable homicide, dacoity, loot, abduction, rape etc, release said.
Also, state is ahead of national average in presenting final chargesheets in such cases.
The meeting was further informed that the cases in which accused of serious crimes are set free by the court are being analysed at the district level and responsibility is being fixed for the same.
It was informed that that a law is proposed to be promulgated for ensuring internal security in crowed markets, malls etc. Provisions are being incorporated in the proposed law that such institutions will have to maintain stipulated internal security.
Those present at the meeting included Minister of State for Home Narayan Singh Kushwah, Chief Secretary Avani Vaish, Principal Secretary Home Rajan S Katoch, Director General of Police SK Raut and senior police officers.
