Chouhan Writes to HRD Ministry for Reducing Education Loan Interest Rates
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions to Higher Education Department for taking up the matter of reduction in interest rates on education loan at Government of India level, said an official release.
The chief minister said that he will himself write a letter to Union Human Resources Development Minister in this connection.
Chouhan gave the instructions while reviewing the activities of the Higher Education Department at the Mantralaya.
The meeting was informed that the state government has set up Saraswati Akshay Kosh for imparting higher education loan guarantee.
A target has been set to impart this guarantee to 200 meritorious students during the current academic session.
Chouhan also instructed the Higher Education Department to determine the process of providing honorary degree of Master of Sports to the players representing Madhya Pradesh in national and international competitions.
The chief minister called for contemplating over making the holders of this degree eligible for bonus marks for getting admission to various courses as well employment.
Those present at the meeting included Higher Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma, Chief Secretary Avani Vaish, Principal Secretary Higher Education Jaideep Govind, Commissioner Higher Education Ashish Upadhyaya, Secretary to CM, Anurag Jain and Additional Secretary Ajatshatru Shrivastava.
