Pakistan’s request to extradite Musharraf rejected
ISLAMABAD: The UK government refused to hand over Gen Pervez Musharraf to Pakistani authorities.
Pakistan requires Musharraf in connection with the Benazir Bhutto murder probe.
A formal letter was through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to the Interpol with respect to a Red Notice about the requirement of Musharraf.
The British government does not grant extradition as per their rule which says it does not extradite individuals to countries where the death penalty is enforced; rather, it processes such requests as per its judicial system before giving out any decision.
A number of individuals belonging to different countries have been living in Britain. The British government does not hand over these individuals until they defy the law of the UK.
