Heavy fine slapped on Air India by US transportation department
WASHINGTON: The US transportation department slapped a heavy fine on Air India.
The fine amounting to $80,000 was slapped because of delay in posting customer service and tarmac delay contingency plans on its website and adequately inform passengers about its optional fees.
This was the first fine slapped after the new airline consumer rules come into effect last August.
US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said on Thursday, “Our new airline consumer rules help ensure that passengers are fully informed about airline services and fees and what to expect if their flight is delayed on the tarmac”.
