City to be divided into 3 zones
Indore: The Indore Municipal Corporation and traffic police under a joint initiative have decided to divide city into three zones for vendors and sellers to ease the regular traffic snarls at various busy market places during the peak hours.
During a recent meeting of city sales committee it was decided that Indore will be divided into three zones including green, yellow, and red so that there is less traffic jam. The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of IMC Commissioner Yogendra Sharma where Committee member Traffic DSP Pradip Singh Chauhan and representatives from various vendors association were also present.
Under these three zones, officials from IMC and traffic police will identify such areas where vendors could sale their items during specified time period or those areas which would be prohibited for vendors and sale. Under green zone, vendors and handcarts will be allowed to sell their items and products from early morning (7 am) to till night (9pm).
The areas identified under yellow zone are those market and residential areas where vendors will be allowed between 6am and 9pm for their marketing activities and in red zone, there will be a complete ban on any marketing activities at the entry and exit points of city. Selling products in 100 meters area near any archeological building in the city and other busy and sensitive areas will not be allowed.
Besides, in certain areas are too identified where vendors could sale their items while moving in the area but will not be allowed to stay at a fixed point for long.
A survey has already been conducted for this plan. Identity cards will be issued to the vendors after verification of essential documents by marketing department of IMC and a fee of `50 will be charged for permission while `20 will be charge for identity card.
A nominal fee (`5) will be taken for re-newel of permission annually.
