Convergence of MNREGA with MP’s Fun
Bhopal. Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava has informed that the Union Government has given go-ahead to undertake development works through convergence of MNREGA and the Fund of Members of Parliament. Now, MP’s fund can be used in proposed development works under MNREGA with concerning MP’s consent. Use of machinery and contractors will remain completely banned as per the Act’s provisions.
Proposals of works through MNREGA’s convergence with MP’s Fund will be sanctioned by Gram Sabha. At least 25 percent of total MP’s Fund will be used in works to be undertaken through convergence. Separate muster rolls will be maintained under MP’s Fund and MNREGA in such works. Besides, separate details will also be displayed on the notice board at the site of work. These works will be undertaken keeping development of infrastructure in view.
Only three fourth part of the expenditure on material to be used on these convergence works will be from MNREGA funds. Rest of expenditure will have to be borne by the State Government. No amount will be spent on material from MP’s Fund. The work recommended by local MP will be sanctioned by Gram Sabha and cannot be cancelled.
The works to be undertaken with convergence of MNREGA and MP’s fund will be part of MNREGA’s annual action plan. These works will be included in MNREGA project by concerning Programme Coordinator on local MP’s recommendation and approved by Zila Panchayat. District Programme Coordinator will make necessary assistance available to implementing agencies.
