Holding Madhya Pradesh responisble for northern grid failure in untrue

Bhopal. Holding Madhya Pradesh also for failure of Northern Grid is highly untrue and baseless. Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company has made it clear that Madhya Pradesh has not overdrawn at the time of grid failure on July 30 and 31. is taken into consideration, it will become clear that at that time Madhya Pradesh had not made any overdraw. On the other hand, it was supplying power to to other states.

MP Power Management Company has said that Northern Grid failure at 2.32 am on July 30, 1030 MW power was being supplied from Bina towards Gwalior on 400 KV Bina-Gwalior line of Power Grid Corporation of India. From the same line, 1009 MW power supply was flowing towards Agra from Gwalior. This makes it clear that Madhya Pradesh was drawing only nominal supply of power. At that time, Madhya Pradesh was using only 1190 MW out of 1633 MW power of its share in the Central Grid. Remaining 443 MW power was being drawn by other states.

Similarly, at the time of Northern Grid failure at 12.55 pm on July 31, 934 MW power was being supplied from Bina towards Gwalior on 400 KV Bina-Gwalior line. From the same line, 927 MW power supply was flowing towards Agra from Gwalior. At that time also, Madhya Pradesh was drawing only nominal power supply. Madhya Pradesh was drawing 1442 MW out of its share of 1523 MW share in the Central Grid. Remaining 81 MW power was being drawn by other states.

Availability of power was adequate in Madhya Pradesh at the time of grid failure on July 30 and 31. On both days, there was under-drawl of 443 MW and 81 MW. It makes it clear that there was no question of over-drawl.

Similarly, all the thermal and hydel power plants in Madhya Pradesh were generating adequate power at the time of grid failure on July 30 and 31. But due to grid failure, power being supplied from Madhya Pradesh to other states were abruptly discontinued. Due to this, frequency of power in Madhya Pradesh and Western Grid was increasing alarmingly due to excessive availability of power. Under such circumstances, electricity engineers of Madhya Pradesh shut off all the hydel power plants with a view to saving Madhya Pradesh and Western Grid from plunging into darkness. At the same time, power generation at thermal plants was also reduced to normalize frequency and ensure that Western Grid is saved from darkness.
