Water-level increases in state’s reservoirs

Bhopal: Water-level of major reservoirs and rivers in the state has risen considerably as a result of good rainfall in Madhya Pradesh during the last three months from June 1 to August 31. As of now, water-level of Bargi reservoir stands at 403 meters, Gandhi Sagar 381 meters, Barna 338 metes, Indira Sagar 243 meters, Bansagar 323 meters, Tawa 334 meters and Sanjay Sarovar reservoir has filled up to a level of 308 meters. This water-level is almost equal to maximum level of these reservoirs. During the last three months, an average 823 millimeter rainfall was registered in the state, which is more than normal rainfall of 766 mm of this period.

The water-level of Kolar Dam, which supplies drinking water to Bhopal city to a large extent, now stands at 429.93 meters. Full tank capacity of this dam is 462.20 meters.

Among major rivers of the state, the water-level of Narmada at Hoshangabad is 286 meters and 312 meters at Barman Ghat, Chambal’s water-level at Nagda is 451 meters, Betwa’s level at Neemkheri 417 meters, Sindh 345 meters at Amola, Parvati 404 meters at Maksoodangarh and water-level of Tamas river stands at 122 meters at Patera.
