Rahul Gandhi is number two in party : Congress

New Delhi:  The Congress on Monday said that Party’s general secretary Rahul Gandhi is ‘number two’ in party after party president Sonia Gandhi.

“He is number two… work is going on,” party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury said. She, however, did not comment on his probable re-designation.

There has been speculation that Rahul Gandhi will assume a bigger role in the party over the next few days and get a new designation such as vice-president.
An indication to Rahul’s imminent promotion in party hierarchy was available when party general secretary Digvijay Singh recently told reporters in Bhopal to wait till the reshuffle in the party when he was asked why Gandhi was not taken into the Cabinet or given any new post in the party.
A reshuffle in the All India Congress Committee could take place before Diwali on November 13. A number of general secretaries in AICC are likely to be changed in the this organisational reshuffle.
