State flooded on Deepawali with Record power supply
Bhopal: Bumper power supply was ensured in the state on Deepawali through effective management and ensuring better networks by Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company and all the energy sector companies in the state. In the 57 years old history of Madhya Pradesh, a new record of supply of 9089 MW power was set on the occasion Deepawali on November 13. A new record has been set in the state’s history by supplying 1755.57 lakh units of power on Deepawali day. Earlier, 1694.78 lakh units were supplied on Dhanteras November 11, this year.
It may be mentioned here that 7786 MW power was supplied on Deepawali night on November 5 in year 2010 and 7925 MW on October 26, 2011 during peak hours. This year, on occasion of Dhanteras night on November 11, maximum peak hour demand of 9412 MW power was met and 9484 MW on November 12 (Narak Chaudas) supply of 9484 MW power is a record in the state’s history.
On Deepawali this year, power was not cut in any part of the state after 6 pm. This record power supply could be ensured through effective coordination among State Load Dispatch Centre, Power Management Company, Power Generating Company and Eastern, Central and Western Power distribution Companies in the state.
Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Secretary Energy Shri Mohammad Sulaiman, Power Management Company MD Shri Manu Shrivastava and the Managing Directors of distribution companies congratulated the concerning officers and employees in the state for this historic achievement.
MD Shri Manu Shrivastava informed that of the 9089 MW power, 2128 MW power was supplied by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company’s thermal power plants, 783 MW by hydel plant, 2440 MW by National Thermal Power Plant (Central Sector), 982 MW by Indira Sagar, 381 MW from Omkareshwar, 40 MW from Sardar Sarovar hydel power plant, 390 from Damodar Valley Corporation, 161 MW from J.P. Bina and 32 MW power was supplied by Torrent. Remaining supply of 1218 MW power was made through medium-short term purchase and banking. During the period, 1000 MW power drawn through banking in monsoon season was also returned.
