State wide campaign for physical verification of rural development works starrs from today

Bhopal: In an attempt to reach out in rural areas to provide benefit of development and welfare works to the poor’s, the State Government is starting campaign for physical verification and social audit of various schemes of Panchayat & Rural Development. The campaign will continue till December 20.
“During the period, persons entrusted work of physical verification will be trained and then given forms in which they will enter details of beneficiary-oriented schemes and development programmes by visiting door-to-door,” officials said. Special Gram Sabhas will be held from December 16 to 20 for eliciting people’s views about these informations. Following this, entries will be displayed on web portal at Janpad-level till December 25. All the informations regarding physical verification and social audit will be made available at the state-level also on December 26.
Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats have been appointed as nodal officers to ensure success of this state-wide campaign. Beside this, responsibility of monitoring the campaign at the state and district level has also been entrusted to senior officers. A state-level workshop was held at Bhopal today with a view to ensuring success of the campaign for physical verification and social audit of works under MNREGA and welfare and beneficiary-oriented programmes and schemes of Rural Development & Social Justice Department. The workshop was held jointly Madhya Pradesh State Employment Guarantee Council and Regional Rural Development Training Centre, Bhopal. United Nations Development Programme and Jan-Abhiyan Parishad also cooperated in holding the workshop.
Describing role of Janpad Panchayat CEOs as important, MNREGA Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Pastor said that extending benefits of development to last persons in the last row is a challenging work. It is also necessary to ensure that various orders, directives and information reach Gram Panchayat level in right perspective. Beside this, awareness should also be crated among villagers through Gram Sabhas about correct information regarding funds spent on development works and villagers’ eligibility for beneficiary-oriented schemes.
Dr. Pastor stressed the need for increasing public participation in Gram Sabhas. He said that information regarding receipt of funds under MNREGA should be displayed on notice boards at Gram, Janpad and Zila panchayat levels. He said that development schemes are for community welfare. Besides team work and effective management, available resources should also be effectively used for success of these works. Dr. Pastor asked CEOs of Janpad Panchayats to learn new techniques and augment their work capacity through information technology. He said that the department is also considering to provide special allowance to reimburse expenses on the works done through computer and laptop. He said that information regarding MNREGA works from Gram Panchayat to State Government and Central Government will be disseminated in future only through NREGA Soft.
At the workshop, Jan-Abhiyan Parishad Vice-Chairman Dr. Ajay Shankar Mehta, Director Social Audit Dr. Abhya Pandey, NIC Technical Director Shri Sunil Jain and officers of Madhya Pradesh Employment Guarantee Council made the participants aware on various issues. State Project Coordinator Shri Binoo Chaturvedi proposed a vote of thanks. PM’s Fellow Representatives posted in IPA districts, Block Coordinators of Jan-Abhiyan Parishad and senior officers participated in the workshop.
