India made rapid economic progress – Union Finance Minister Sitharaman

India has made progress at a very rapid pace after the year 1990. Production is being done as per global standards. In the next 25 years of Amrit Kaal, NRIs should actively contribute in progress focused on “Four-I’s” – Infra-Structure, Investment, Innovations and Inclusiveness.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made this call while chairing the session on “Harnessing the Potential of Women Diaspora Entrepreneurs towards an Inclusive Approach to Nation Building” on the third day of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Convention today. She said that you are the brand ambassador of Indian culture and India, actively contribute in taking India to a loftier peak with public participation. India is also the country making economic progress at the fastest pace in the current and next year.

Every district of the country is rich in unique products

Union Finance Minister Sitharaman while reiterating the words of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that India is not rich in any one product but every district of the country is rich in one or the other special product. From Saris of Varanasi, Kanjeevaram, utensils of Moradabad, utensils of Salem, basmati rice, spices, handicrafts etc. there is a vast array of products, which you can supply to your respective countries.

Giving the example of bamboo, she said that by taking Indian bamboo through handicrafts to every nook and corner of the country on the occasion of Christmas, along with helping artisans and businessmen, a good image of India can also be created.

Every car in the world has some Indian part

Union Minister Sitharaman said that today the proof of India’s increasing self-reliance is that one or the other part of every car is made in India. Fighter jets, air buses, aircrafts are being made in India. Thousands of engineers are building semi-conductor designs. 14 out of 15 diamonds in the world are being cut in India.

Most importantly, India has become a leader in chip designing. 58 companies of India are leaders among the industries of the world. India with Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam believes in One Earth, One Family, One Future.

India becomes a knowledge hub

India has become the knowledge hub of the world. IT companies are also providing employment outside India. 1.6 million jobs have been given in these. Salary is being given at an average rate of 106 dollars in America. India has emerged as a tech hub. India is making significant contribution to the talent pool. 125 lakh crore rupees have been contributed in UPI in one year.

Largest producer of medicines after America

Union Finance Minister Sitharaman said that India manufactures the largest number of medicines after America. About 80 percent of the medicines are being manufactured in India. Not only this, every year two million people from many countries come to India for treatment. India has been recognised as information technology, medical, knowledge hub etc.

Country with less pollution despite dense population

Union Finance Minister Sitharaman said that 17 percent of the total world population resides in India. Despite this, global pollution is only 5 percent. This is also being reduced by encouraging renewable energy like solar, wind, biomass etc. under the resolution of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Due to these, carbon emissions have started reducing, which will be equal to several thousand crore trees.

Relief to retail traders through Mudra scheme

The Union Finance Minister said that the Mudra Yojana launched by the Prime Minister is a boon for small businessmen. With this, they get relief from the clutches of middlemen and also do not have to give any guarantee in the bank.

Overseas women share success stories

Mitu Bhowmick from Australia, Sajani Anaka Reddy from Zambia, Kavita Parmar from Spain, Dr. Poonam Gupta from England, Devki Khimji from Oman and Maria Siddika Ashraf from Tajikistan also shared their unique and inspirational success stories.

Mitu Bhowmick is the only film distributor in Australia to have won Australia’s “Highest Grossing Foreign Film Award” for 4 times in just 12 years. Reddy runs Vision Care Centre, which has 32 branches in Zambia and Congo. Parmar is promoting handicrafts products in over 300 multi-brand stores across the globe. The turnover of Dr. Poonam Gupta’s PG Paper Company is around 100 million dollar. Devki Khimji, who started a successful business without the help of her father at the age of just 22, is now running her father’s construction company in Oman. She is also a leader in gym and fitness club Construction. Smt. Ashraf shared the inspiring story of the kindergarten school she started with her especially abled child.
