CM meets C.P. Joshi, apprised him of bad conditions of Natioal Highways
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan called on Union Road Transport and National Highways Minister Shri C.P. Joshi here today and apprised him of bad condition of National Highways passing through Madhya Pradesh. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Smt. Sushma Swaraj and senior officers of the Union and State governments were present on the occasion. Apprising the Union Minister of bad condition of National Highways, Chief Minister said that resentment is prevailing in people for this. Large potholes on these roads are not good from traffic point of view and pose danger of accidents anytime.
Shri Chouhan informed that the State Government has spent Rs. 125 crore from its resources on repair of bad roads, which is not adequate. Condition of National Highways in the state is still bad and need to be repaired without delay. He said that all the National Highways from east to west and north to south of India pass through Madhya Pradesh. It is very necessary to repair them in time. Shri Chouhan desired cooperation of the Union Government in repair of these National Highways.
Shri Chouhan also held discussions with the Union Minister on issues pertaining to Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation mainly payment against claims pertaining to VGF, utility shifting, payment necessary amounts for acquiring land for schemes etc. Besides this, Shri Chouhan also held discussions on notifications under sections 3 (A) and 3 (D) for land acquisition and construction of Jhansi-Bameetha Section of National Highway 75.
Shri Chouhan also discussed other issues pertaining to National Highways Authority of India like maintenance of under-construction sections of National Highways after execution of agreement. He drew attention of the Union Minister towards the National Highways, which are under the jurisdiction of Public Works Department. He demanded adequate funds under heads of general maintenance and food damage. He also demanded simplification of sanction and execution process of works for National Highways. He informed that besides about 13 estimates approved for the year 2012-13, seven revised estimates under annual plan are also pending with concerning ministry.
