CM to Students, develop personality with positive energy

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed cheques for Rs. 25 thousand each to talented students having secured above 85 percent marks in higher secondary exams at a function here today. It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister honours students securing 85 and above percent marks in higher secondary and high school every year with a view to motivating them and funds are given to such students to buy laptops. The felicitation function was organised jointly by the School Education Department and the Board of Secondary Education.

The Chief Minister exhorted talented students to always think positive, do positive and improve their personality with positive energy. Society, state and country needs talented students. Therefore, students should study further and move ahead in life so that their families, society and country can feel proud of them. Shri Chouhan students neither lack in talent nor enthusiasm. Lack of facilities and resources will be removed by the State Government. Students should only concentrate on studies and determine positive direction. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said that nothing is impossible. Human beings have made possible all the tasks that seemed to be impossible. Citing example of Madhya Pradesh’s development, Shri Chouhan said that earlier Madhya Pradesh was a backward state, but has now become a developing state. Agriculture and economy growth rates have increased in the state in an unprecedented way. Now the state is making fast progress. The task that seemed to be impossible has been made possible for everyone to see.
Referring to educational facilities, Shri Chouhan said that uniforms, text-books and bicycles are being provided to students from class 1. Referring to Gaon Ki Beti, Higher Education Loan Guarantee and other schemes, he said that no hurdle will be allowed in education. He exhorted students to excel in studies and move forward. They should contribute their best to society and help make Madhya Pradesh free from poverty, diseases and unemployment.
The Chief Minister honoured students of high school and higher secondary making it to the merit list of the Board of Secondary Education with honorarium, certificates and coconuts. The student topping the merit list was given Rs. 30 thousand and the students down the merit order were given Rs. one thousand less than the student preceding him. The last student in the merit list was given Rs. 21 thousand.
Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah also spoke on the occasion. School Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis said that as a result of initiative taken by the Chief Minister for promoting talented students four years ago, has resulted in astonishing increase in the number of students securing above 85 marks in the year 2012. Four years ago, 473 students had secured 85 or above marks. This year, this number has increased about four fold to 2085. She said that the state has witnessed development which could not be made during previous years.
Commissioner School Education Shri Arun Kochar delivered the welcome address. Principal Secretary School Education Shri Sanjay Singh, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Shri Sudeep Singh and Secretary Shri Santosh Mishra, teachers and parents were present on the occasion.
At the programme, 101 high and higher secondary students of 2011 and 104 of 2012 were honoured. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan’s wife Smt. Sadhna Singh was also present on the occasion.
