Advani resigns from all BJP posts
New Delhi: In a major turn of event, BJP patriarch LK Advani on Monday quit all post he hailed in the saffron party.
“Finding it difficult to reconcile with either the functioning of the party or the direction in which it is going,” the BJP leader said.
Advani relinquished the posts held by him in the BJP Parliamentary Board, National Executive and Election Committee.
Advani had skipped the three-day deliberations of the party in Goa over the weekend citing health reasons. This was the first time in the history of the saffron party that Advani had stayed away from the National Executive and the office bearers’ meeting.
Sources said that Rajnath Singh and Modi were scheduled to go together to Advani’s residence but the 85-year-old leader asked Singh to come alone for a meeting. When the BJP chief met Advani the latter expressed anger and resentment over Modi’s elevation.
