Candidate will have to give details of expenditure within 30 days of election results

Bhopal: Election expenses monitoring system will be in place in every Assembly constituency for monitoring day-to-day election expenses to be made by candidates during Vidhan Sabha elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh this year. Election Commission has asked candidates to maintain daily account of election expenses positively. Details of election expenses will have to be presented within 30 days of announcements of election results. Minimum one election expenses observer will be deployed in every district for monitoring election expenses.
From the date of notification of election by District Election Officer (DEO), one Assistant Expenditure Observer (AEO) will be appointed in every constituency. AEOs will be appointed from among officers from Central Services or Income Tax Department. Preference in it will be given to officers of Income Tax, Central Excise & Audit and officers related to accounting in Central Services and Public Sector Undertakings. Expenditure observers will be provided vehicles, local SIM cards and space in the office of district returning officer for coordinating with all teams, nodal officers and election observers.
One or more video teams will be deployed in every Vidhan Sabha constituency. Every team will comprise one employee and one video-grapher. If required, more teams can be deployed on the recommendation of Election Observer. Assistant Expenditure Observer will personally inspect video-graphy of sensitive incidents and public rallies. More than one team will be deployed for recording if many rallies and public meetings are held the same day. Video monitoring teams will work under the direction of Assistant Expenditure Observer. Minimum one accounting team will also be appointed in every district, which will consist of one employee and one assistant clerk.
