Districts with over 80 % polling in assembly election to be awarded
Bhopal: Collectors of the 3 districts where over 80 percent polling has been registered during Vidhan Sabha elections will be felicitated by Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav at a state-level function at Bhopal to mark National Voters’ Day on January 25, 2014. this was decided at a meeting concerning National Voters’ Day chaired by Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind today. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shri V.L. Kanta Rao, Commissioner Public Relations Shri Rakesh Shrivastava and Bhopal division commissioner Shri S.B. Singh were also present. The meeting decided to hold National Voters’ Day functions at district, tahsil and booth levels also.
It was informed at the meeting that state level function to mark Voters’ Day will be held at Subhash School of Excellence at Bhopal where Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav will be the chief guest. At the function, cash prizes and certificates will be given to collectors of Chhindwara, Seoni and Sehore districts where more than 80 % polling is registered. It was decided that officers and employees will also be felicitated at the function for best performances in E-Roll and gender ratio works. Quiz, painting competitions and cultural programmes will also be held in colleges and schools on mandatory voting to strengthen democracy. These competitions will be held at the state level. Winners will be awarded. An exhibition showcasing history of India’s electoral process will also be held on the occasion.
Tableau of Republic Day: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shri V.L. Kanta Rao informed that a tableau of office of the Chief Electoral Officer will be displayed at Lal Parade Ground during Republic Day January 26. The tableau will showcase women’s contribution in strengthening of democracy. Due to inclusion of 10 lakh young women in electoral rolls for Vidhan Sabha election, gender ratio in the state has improved to 900 per thousand. Percentage of polling by women will also be prominently displayed on the tableau. Information was also given at the meeting about start of brief summary revision of electoral rolls from December 13.
