Sanchi Buddhist-Indic Studies University from academic session 2014-15

Bhopal: Sanchi Buddhist-Indic Studies University will state from academic session 2014-15 with 6 certificate courses. For the university, 353 posts have been sanctioned. This was informed at the first meeting of general council of the university here today.
Chairing the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that this is a unique university. Here students from all over the world will come to study various dimensions of Indic studies and Buddhist philosophy. He said that international Dharm-Dhamma Sammelan will be held once in 2 years so that adequate time can be utilised for preparations for the international level event. Third international Dharm-Dhamma Sammelan in 2016. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed to undertake recruitment process, processes and procedures of the university with transparency. He gave in-principle consent regarding financial powers of the university.
It is noteworthy that 100 acre land has been provided to the university near Sanchi in Raisen district. On it, administrative building will be constructed as per concept of the university. At present, natural hospital premises spread over 25 acres at village Warla in Raisen district will be used for the university’s academic activities.
The Chief Minister gave in-principle consent to university’s service recruitment rules, terms of reference for Vice-Chancellor’s post and fiscal rules apart from establishment of 5 schools of the university including Buddhist Philosophy, Sanatan Dharma & Indic Studies, International Buddhist Studies, Comparative Study of Religions, languages, Literature and Culture. Initially, studies of Tibetan, Sinhalese and Chinese languages will be started. The Chief Minister directed to consider a proposal for opening Dhyan Kendra on the university premises.
The Chief Minister directed to adopt transparent process regarding appointments of guest faculties, visiting faculties and ad-hoc appointments. At the meeting, Prof. Uma Vaidya, vice-chancellor, Maha Kavi Kalidas Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Ramtek, Prof. Shubhda Joshi, Philosophy, Mumbai University and Prof. Pradeep Khogle, Central Higher Tibetan Study Centre, Sarnath were nominated to the academic council of the university.
Shri Sagar Mal Jain of Shajapur and Shri Ven Banagala Upastita Nayake Thero have been appointed members of general council.
Minister of State for Culture Shri Surendra Patwa, university’s chancellor Prof. Samdong Lobsung Tenzin Rimpoche, members Shri Geshe Semten, vice-chancellor Central Higher Tibetan Study Centre, Sarnath, vice-chancellor of Sanchi Buddhist and Indic Studies University Prof. Dr. Shashi Prabha Thakur, OSD Shri Rajesh Gupta and Principal Secretaries of concerning departments were present on the occasion.
