Bhopal to be developed as most beautiful city in world: CM
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Bhopal will be developed as world’s most beautiful city. Light metro train will be launched in Bhopal. The Chief Minister laid foundation stone of a cable stay bridge costing about Rs. 29 crore 47 lakh here today. Home Minister Shri Babulal Gaur, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Maya Singh and former Chief Minister Shri Kailash Joshi were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that Bhopal Municipal Corporation has been provided Rs. 120 crore for development works under Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Fund. Planned development works have been undertaken to enhance Bhopal’s reputation as state capital. Traffic hurdles have been removed. State government will extend every possible assistance for Bhopal’s development. Beauty of Bhopal’s Pride Upper Lake will further enhance with construction of this cable bridge, he added.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is progressing in every norm of development. Madhya Pradesh is pioneer in economic and agriculture growth rates in the country. Per capita income has also witnessed considerable increase. Benefit of development has been extended to every poor since state government believes that everyone has right over resources. A housing policy is being chalked out which envisages houses for all. He urged to send every child to school and cooperate in developing Madhya Pradesh as a literate state.
Presiding over the function, Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that Bhopal Municipal Corporation is performing well. Municipal corporation will get every possible cooperation from state government. Rural Development Minister and in-charge of Bhopal district Shri Gopal Bhargava said that Madhya Pradesh is pioneer in both urban and rural development. This cable bridge will smoothen traffic flow.
In the welcome address, Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur said that this cable stay bridge from Kamla Park to Retghat is a major gift for Bhopal city. The first 6-lane flyover in the state is being constructed in Habibganj. MLAs Sarvshri Arif Aqeel, Surendra Nath Singh, Vishwas Sarang, Rameshwar Sharma and Vishnu Khatri, Leader of Opposition in Municipal Corporation Shri Mohammad Sagheer, members of Mayor-in-Council, corporators and administrative officers were present on the occasion. Municipal Corporation Chairman Shri Kailash Mishra proposed a vote of thanks.
Cable stay bridge
The cable stay bridge costing Rs. 29.47 crore will be constructed from Kamla Park to Retghat under JNNURM. It will be 300 meters longs and 17 meters wide. The state-of-the-art cable bridge will serve as a link between Old and New Bhopal City.
