Polling for Vidhan Sabha by-elections on August 21

Bhopal: Polling will be held on August 21 from 7 am to 6 pm in 3 Vidhan Sabha by-election constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. As many as 25 candidates are in the fray in these constituencies. Ten candidates each are contesting in Vijayraghavgarh and Bahoriband and 5 in Agar Assembly constituency. As many as 6 lakh 6 thousand 493 voters will cast their votes at 721 polling booths in 3 Vidhan Sabha by-elections. The number of voters in Vijayraghavgarh is 2 lakh one thousand 22 including one lakh 5 thousand 507 male and 95 thousand 515 female voters. Bahoriband has 2 lakh 10 thousand 970 voters including one lakh 9 thousand 653 male and one lakh one thousand female voters. In Agar, there are one lakh 94 thousand 501 voters including one lakh one thousand 95 male and 93 thousand 406 female voters. Besides, 136 other voters in Vijayraghavgarh, 127 in Bahoriband and 21 other voters in Agar will also cast their votes.As many as 6 lakh 6 thousand 493 voters will cast their votes at 721 polling booths in 3 Vidhan Sabha by-elections. The number of voters in Vijayraghavgarh is 2 lakh one thousand 22 including one lakh 5 thousand 507 male and 95 thousand 515 female voters. Bahoriband has 2 lakh 10 thousand 970 voters including one lakh 9 thousand 653 male and one lakh one thousand female voters. In Agar, there are one lakh 94 thousand 501 voters including one lakh one thousand 95 male and 93 thousand 406 female voters. Besides, 136 other voters in Vijayraghavgarh, 127 in Bahoriband and 21 other voters in Agar will also cast their votes. As many as 721 polling booths have been set up in the 3 constituencies of which 121 booths are sensitive. Votes will be cast in 223 polling booths in Vijayraghavgarh, 241 in Bahoriband and 257 in Agar. In Vijayraghavgarh, 42 booths have been identified as sensitive, 32 in Bahoriband and 47 in Agar. Tight security and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair elections. In view of possibility of rains, necessary arrangements have been made. Plastic sheets have also been installed to save voters from rains. As many as 791 EVMs will be used including 246 in Vijayraghavgarh, 265 in Bahoriband and 280 in Agar. Additional facility of EVMs has also been made. About 5500 thousand government officers-employees will conduct polling including 2373 polling officers, 791 presiding officers each, BLOs, police and other staff. Of the 8 companies of Central Armed Police Force, 5 companies have been deployed in the 2 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Katni district and 3 companies in Agar. One company of SAF has been deployed in each constituency. Besides, 170 constables and head constables, 150 trained constables and 135 home guards will be deployed in Vijayraghavgarh and Bahoriband and 130 constables and head constables, 150 trained constables and 59 home guards in Agar. In both districts, reserve forces in groups of 50 each will also be deployed. Control room at CEO Office A control room has been set up at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer here for smooth conduct of Vidhan Sabha by-elections in Vijayraghavgarh, Bahoriband and Agar constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. The control room will ensure all necessary arrangements through coordination with district election officers, returning officers, sector officers and polling parties. Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Sushri Roohi Khan will be incharge of the control room from 8 am to 4 pm, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Shri C.P. Nigam from 4 pm to 12 midnight and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Shri S.S. Rawat from 12 midnight to 8 am.
