Sanchi dairy products to be made global brands

Bhopal: Sanchi dairy products will be made global brands. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said every possible efforts should be made to develop State Dairy Federation as one of the best organisations in the world.

Shri Chouhan was reviewing activities of Madhya Pradesh State Dairy Federation here today. Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa was also present on the occasion.

Shri Chouhan said that a study of best work in the world in dairy sector should be made. Modern fiscal and administrative management, production techniques and aggressive marketing should be done. Shri Chouhan directed to review functioning of the federation. Redundant and unproductive expenses should be cut down and a report to this effect should be presented. Market rates should be competitive. Animal rearers should be given proper price of milk products and consumers provided products are reasonable rates. For this, rates of purchase and sale should be logical. Shri Chouhan directed for efficient commercial management of income and expenditure to strengthen fiscal condition of dairy federations.

The Chief Minister said that dairy federation is a means to improve lives of the poor. The minimum incomes from dairy products are a big economic support for poor families. Therefore, it is necessary that economic condition of dairy federations is sound. He said that no indifference will be tolerated in this work.

The meeting was informed that possibilities of expansion of Sanchi brand product in foreign countries have been examined. Good market for them is available in East Africa, Australia and UAE. It was also informed that the Dairy Federation paid about Rs. 561 crore to dairy producers in September, which is 57 percent more than last year. In all, 27 percent more milk was collected than last year in the period from April to August this year. During year 2013-14, 8.25 lakh litre milk was collected against the target of 8.1 lakh litres. Constant efforts are being made in the state to increase milk collection. Presently, 160 liter milk per day is being collected on an average from every primary cooperative society. Efforts are underway to increase this figure to 500 litres per day by year 2018-19. As many as 2.3 lakh members are engaged in milk production through 6,387 dairy cooperative societies of the 5 Dairy Federations in the state.
