Best work under MNREGA in MP, CM gets award

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has been conferred 10th National Award for best works under MNREGA. The award was presented to Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the cabinet meeting by Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava here today. On the occasion, the ministers congratulated on this important success in MNREGA.

The Chief Minister said that best works under MNREGA in the country have been accomplished in Madhya Pradesh. Creation of permanent assets through MNREGA convergence in the state has been lauded all over the country. Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Aruna Sharma, MNREGA Commissioner Smt. Seema Sharma and other senior departmental officers were present on the occasion.

On February 2, this award was presented by Union Rural Development Minister Shri Virendra Singh to Madhya Pradesh at the 10th MNREGA summit held in New Delhi. The award was given to Madhya Pradesh for working with convergence in rural areas under MNREGA and other schemes in year 2013-2014, and for excellent work in providing opportunities for earning permanent income and construction of permanent assets. Madhya Pradesh is at the top in construction of permanent assets through MNREGA convergence, and has emerged as a role model for other states of the country. Through MNREGA, 74 percent construction of permanent assets has been done. There are one crore 2 lakh job-card holder families under MNREGA. As many as 179 crore 11 lakh mandays of employment has been created. Out of these, 32 crore 52 lakh scheduled castes, 73 crore 88 lakh scheduled tribes and 77 crore 36 lakh mandays of employment has been provided to female labourers.

Electronic Fund Management System (e-FMS) was introduced in Madhya Pradesh in April 2013 to ensure transparency in accountancy and immediate payment of wages to labourers. Due to this innovative system, timely payment of wages to labourers, and providing them jobs on demand have been made possible. Payment to vendors for goods and wages to rural laboureres are being transferred directly into their bank accounts. Madhya Pradesh is the first state to implement e-FMS. More than 30 lakh e-musters have been issued in the state through eFMS. Through 4 crore 71 lakh transactions made through this system, Rs. 5617 crore have been deposited into the bank accounts of labourers and goods supplier vendors.
