Fishermen getting benefit of several schemes

Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, fishermen are getting benefit of schemes being implemented by Fisheries Federation. As compared to last year, remarkable achievements have been made under a number of schemes this year. till date, 6211 fishermen have been benefited by accident insurance scheme this year.

Prawn breeding started

Prawn breeding policy being implemented in the state for the first time. Under the policy, breeding has been started in Indira Sagar and Bhimgarh reservoir. Till date, 3 lakh 50 thousand prawn seeds have been released in Bhimgarh reservoir and 3 crore one lakh in Indira Sagar reservoir. So far, 50 kg prawns have also been produced in both the reservoirs.

Benefit of savings-cum-relief scheme has been extended to 1278 fishermen. Under the scheme, a target has been set to benefit 4000 fishermen during current year. This year’s achievement is much more than last year.

Achievement of over 8 percent has been registered under Janshree Bima Yojana till date this year. Its benefit has been extended to 1531 fishermen so far. Over 136 percent achievement than last year has also been registered under Jaldeep Yojana. Benefit of the scheme was availed by 519 fishermen during first 2 months of the current fiscal.

Fish seeds

Span production, release of fish seeds are among regular activities of Fisheries Federation. Like before, span production will start after monsoon. Meanwhile, 8 lakh 73 thousand standard fries have been produced till date this year. Continuing remaining fish seeds release work of last year, over one crore 23 lakh 21 thousand seeds have been released. During first 2 months of the current fiscal, 32 lakh 10 thousand fish seeds have been released. This year, over 1138 tonne fish has been produced.
