Shortage of medicines in hospitals not be tolerated
Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed for state level monitoring of availability of medicines in all medical college hospitals of the state. He instructed for online information about stock, use and remaining stock of medicines so that availability of medicines can be reviewed at state level any time.
Shri Chouhan reviewed activities of Medical Education Department here today. Medical Education Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Minister of State Shri Sharad Jain and Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa also attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that medicines should not fall short in hospitals in any case. Laxity and negligence in this will not be tolerated. He directed to identify and take strict action against erring officials. He sought information about inspection of Sagar medical college by Medical Council of India. He was informed that all points raised in the inspection have been followed within time-limit. On being informed about sanction of 7 projects for excellent health services through medical colleges costing Rs. 659 core, the Chief Minister directed for constant follow-up and implement them by fixing timeline.
It was informed that medicines worth Rs. 28 crore were distributed to 22 lakh 72 thousand 913 patients under Free Medicine Distribution Scheme last year and Rs. 15 crore medicines have been provided to over 13 lakh patients till date during current fiscal. Free pathological tests of 63 types are being conducted. Till September, 19 lakh 55 thousand people were provided this facility. Under Janani Express Yojana, total 71 thousand institutional deliveries were registered including 46 thousand 800 last year and 24 thousand 200 this year.
Country’s second virology lab is being set up in Bhopal Medical College. The lab costing Rs. 24 crore will be operational by the end of current year. The lab will have facility to test samples of swine flu, dengue, HIV, Japanese Encephalitis, Ebola, Hepatitis etc. Modern facility has also been provided in the college for testing of cancer, heart, kidney, neuro diseases and bone marrow. As many as 7 dialysis machines have been installed in the medical college.
Principal Secretary Medical Education Shri Vinod Semwal, Secretary to CM Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary Finance Shri Amit Rathore, Director Medical Education Shri Patel and other senior officers also attended the meeting.
