Meaningful development only through balance between ancient past and present: CM
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh will be developed as number one in Rishi cultivation and organic farming. Provision of subsidy should also be made for organic farming. This was stated by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan while addressing session ‘Rishi Evam Kutir’ on the second day of International Vichar Mahakumbh at Ninaura near Ujjain today. Shri Chouhan said that a plan of mixed farming has been chalked out in the state. Information about it is being given to farmers in every village. He said that an advisory committee has been constituted to suggest measures to make agriculture profitable.
Shri Chouhan said that experiments would be undertaken by establishing model agriculture farms. Successful experiments will be shared with farmers. he said that area under irrigation in the state has been increased from 7.50 lakh hectares to 36.5 lakh hectares. Farmers are being given loans at zero percent interest rate. State’s agriculture growth rate is constantly over 20 percent for consecutive last 4 years. The state has surpassed even Haryana and Punjab in agriculture production.
RSS Sarkaryawah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi said that misbalance has been caused due to greed of over-exploiting the nature. We should return to our basics. We should be friendly with the nature. He said that food grains giver Mata Vashundhara should be respected and Green Revolution should be reviewed. Shri Joshi said that a balance should be maintained between ancient past and the present. He said that its beginning is being made through Vichar Kumbh.
Smt. Jaya Jaitley said that agriculture and cottage industry have inseparable relationship. Artisans’ utility in agriculture production is not a secret. Comprehensive discussions should be held on agriculture cost, possibilities and farmers’ expecations.
Handmade goods should be in fashion
Yoga Guru Swami Shri Ramdevji said that we should take the pledge to use only handmade goods. He said that only handmade goods should be in fashion. Lakhs of weavers will get employment if we buy cloth made by them. Even if you wear jeans, it should also be made in India. Shri Ramdevji said that he would develop a food park in Madhya Pradesh soon. He would establish 4 cow research centres in entire country. He called for adopting all-round development instead of destructive development. He said that with the collaboration of tradition and modernity will be eradicate economic and thought-wise poverty.
Shri Ramdevji said that work should be done on the policy to reduce hefty agriculture costs. He said that he will impart free of cost training for Patanjali Ashram’s products including soap and toothpaste. Food processing units should be established at small places, he added.
Chemical farming is farming of violence
Eminent environmentalist and scientist Sushri Vandana Shiva said that those who manufactured explosives during World War are now producing chemicals for agriculture. Credited with Green Revolution, Sushri Vandana said that earlier, rivers would not go dry. Chemical farming is farming of violence. Laying emphases on non-violent farming, Sushri Shiva said that agriculture, income and health should be seen as a single entity. Crop of pulses given 140 kg nitrogen per hectare. About Rs. 70 thousand crore are being spent every year on chemical farming whereas this cost can be reduced ten-fold through Vedic farming. Water can also be conserved through it.
Zero budget farming
MP Shri Anil Madhav Dave said that policy of zero budget farming should be adopted to set right the economy. He stressed the need for re-emergence of indigenous cows. Through cowdung and cow urine agriculture production can be increased along with preventing soil erosion. Shri Dave said that it is an irony that consumers set the price of farmers’ products whereas other goods’ prices are set by producers. He said that pricing should be linked to scientific method. Shri Dave said that all living beings and vegetations on the earth have self-reliance in food.
Farmers from villages towards cities
Co-founder of institution ‘Back to Village’ IITian Shri Manish Kumar said that farmers are emigrating from villages to cities daily. If given a chance, 60 percent farmers will relinquish agriculture. All this is happening since they are not getting due respect. He said that if youths do need-based works they would surely achieve success. Efforts should be made to increase production of crop in its native area. He said that after God, farmers our Annadata. Farmers should be taught right from childhood. A revolution can be generated by involving able youths in social sector given them some incentive. The spirit that one can lead a decent life even through agriculture should be promoted. Shri Kumar informed that productivity of paddy these days is only 55 to 60 quintal per hectare whereas some farmers used to take paddy yield of 100 quintals per hectare during year 1955.
