New Lower Aur Large Irrigation Project in Datia Area will Increase Farmers’ Income
Bhopal. Awareness of farmers and efforts of the Minister for Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Narottam Mishra will yield more crops in 36 villages of Datia district. Income of the farmers will be increased due to availability of water for their crops. This will become possible by implementation of new lower aur large irrigation project. Beside this, the water supply condition of Datia will be drastically improved.
Dr. Mishra told the farmers of Datia district that this large project costing more than Rs. 2 thousand 250 crore at river aur in district Shivpuri will proved beneficial for several villages of Datia district. This project will facilitate irrigation in 90 thousand hectare area. The villages of Datia will get sufficient water. Water level of reservoirs of the area will increase and water could be supplied to Angoori Barrage. With the linkage of Angoori Barrage with this large project, additional water supply to the Rajghat project will become possible. Describing the project importance for the welfare of the farmers, Dr. Mishra directed the officers of water resources department to give pace to complete the activities related to the project.
Project at a Glance
Aur River is a tributary river to Betwa. Construction of dam is proposed on Aur river at village Jigwani of Shivpuri district under the lower aur large project. Water conservation capacity of the dam will be 329 MTM. Farmers will be benefited by the project getting sufficient water from smaller rivers of Ashok Nagar district. Irrigation facility couldn’t be provided to 35 villages as they do not come under the Rajghat Canal project purview at present. Although, irrigation water is provided by the Sindh Project for the area but this new project will prove to be a boon to the farmers.
