Janhvi Kapoor on bagging Karan Johar’s Takht: I am still in shock

after Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar has taken Janhvi Kapoor under his wings. From introducing her in Bollywood with Dhadak to giving her interesting films, KJo is doing everything to play a perfect mentor to the new star kid on the block. After the super success of Dhadak, Karan has now roped in Janhvi for a period drama.

On Thursday morning (August 9), cinephiles woke up to a big announcement from Karan Johar. The filmmaker announced his forthcoming period drama Takht with an ensemble cast that can make any filmmaker go green with envy.

The 46-year-old director’s film will see Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor.

When Janhvi was recently asked about her second collaboration with KJo, she said, “What can I say? I am still in shock. It hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s a big deal for me and I am so eternally grateful and feel so blessed that Karan (Johar) has allowed me to be part of this journey.”

She added, “I am so excited and hope to do a good job. I am just overwhelmed right now.”

Set against the backdrop of Mughal empire, Takht is the story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love and of succession. It revolves around an epic battle for the throne. “Takht is about war for love,” says Karan Johar.
