OpenAI CTO Meera Murati resigns: Two more technical leaders left the company, Altman said – Thank you Meera for everything
The top 3 technical leaders of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, have resigned from their posts. These include Chief Technology Officer Meera Murati, Vice President-Research Barrett Joffe and Chief Research Officer Bob McGrew. Murati informed about his resignation on social media platform X.
Meera Murati wrote on X- I have something to share with you. After much deliberation, I have made the difficult decision to leave OpenAl. My 6 and a half years with the OpenAl team have been an extraordinary privilege. I am stepping down because I want to create time and space for my own exploration.
Altman said – Thank you for everything Mira
Pho founder Altman replied to Meera Murati’s post and wrote – Thank you Meera for everything. It is hard to say how much Meera means to OpenAI, our mission and to all of us personally. I am excited for what she will do next. We will tell more about the transformation plans soon.
Meera Murati has also been the interim CEO of OpenAI
Murati was appointed as the interim CEO of the company when the OpenAI board decided to remove Sam Altman from the post of CEO of the company in November 2023. Before joining OpenAI in 2018, he has worked at Zodiac Aerospace from 2012 to 2013 and also briefly at Tesla. After completing his studies, he started his career as an intern at Goldman Sachs in 2011.
ChatGPT was publicly unveiled in 2022
OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT to the world in November 2022. This AI tool has gained popularity rapidly. From writing music and poetry to writing essays, ChatGPT can do a lot of things. It is a conversational AI. An artificial intelligence that answers you like humans.
Big tech companies like Microsoft have invested more than $13 billion in OpenAI. The company has also integrated ChatGPT in its search engine ‘Bing’. Many other companies are eager to use ChatGPT. In such a situation, the use of this AI-based chatbot is expected to spread even more in the coming days.
Critics say that the increasing use of AI will create problems for people. Jobs will be lost, people’s dependence on it will increase and perhaps a day will come when humans will completely leave the task of thinking to AI. Sam Altman does not deny this danger. However, he says that it is difficult to imagine a world where the human brain is not needed.
