Petrol price slashed by 17-19 paise on Friday, diesel also becomes cheaper. Check rates here

New Delhi: Petrol, diesel prices were cut for the second straight day on Friday. After today’s price cut, petrol became cheaper by 17-19 paise per litre across major cities while diesel price came down by 16-17 paise. In the national capital Delhi, petrol was priced at Rs 77.10 as against Rs 77.28 on Thursday and diesel was sold at Rs 71.93 as compared to Rs 72.09 yesterday, according to data available on Indian Oil Corporation website.

In the country’s business capital Mumbai, petrol was sold at Rs 82.62 per litre on Friday compared to Rs 82.80 on Thursday. Diesel in Mumbai became cheaper by 17 paise to Rs 75.36.

Similarly, in Chennai and Kolkata, petrol was priced at Rs 80.07 and Rs 79.04 respectively as against Rs 80.26 and Rs 76.19 on Thursday. Diesel in these cities was sold at Rs 76.02 and Rs 73.79 respectively.

In November so far, petrol prices have been cut by nearly Rs 2.20 per litre while diesel has become cheaper by Rs 1.90 across all the metro cities of the country. The recent fall in fuel prices is due to a correction in international crude oil prices, which have come down by nearly 20 per cent in last one month.

In Noida petrol was priced at Rs 75.50 per litre and diesel was sold at Rs 70.19.

Brent crude was hovering around $67 per dollar mark in Asian trade on Friday. Last month it touched a four-year high of $86 per barrel.

Fuel prices are expected to come down further in the coming days. Petrol, diesel in India are fixed based on the last 15-day average price of crude and rupee-dollar exchange rate along with dealer commission, and taxes, which does not change on a daily basis. The recent fall in crude prices has not fully been captured in retail fuel prices. But in the coming days, as the 15-day average cost of crude comes down, the same will be reflected in retail fuel prices.
