Sensex closed down 71 points at 82,890:
Nifty also fell 32 points, there was selling in FMCG, oil and gas and healthcare stocks
On the last trading day of the week today, i.e. 13th September, the Sensex closed at 82,890 with a fall of 71 points. Nifty also fell by 32 points and closed at 25,356.
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 19 fell and 11 rose. Out of the 50 Nifty stocks, 32 fell and 18 rose. FMCG, oil and gas and healthcare stocks saw selling, while stocks of all other sectors rose.
Mixed trading in Asian markets
- ITC, Reliance, Bharti Airtel and Infosys pulled the market down the most. Whereas, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank and Bajaj Finserv pulled the market up.
- In the Asian market, Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.68% and Korea’s Kospi rose 0.13%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.75% and China’s Shanghai Composite fell 0.48%.
- On September 12, the US market Dow Jones closed at 41,096, up 0.58%. Nasdaq closed at 5,595, up 1.00%, and S&P500 closed at 5,595, up 0.75%.
- According to NSE data, foreign investors (FIIs) bought shares worth ₹7,695.00 crore on September 12. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) sold shares worth ₹1,800.54 crore.
Western Carriers IPO opens
The Initial Public Offering (IPO) of light logistics company Western Carriers Limited has opened today. Investors can bid for shares till 18 September. The company’s shares will be listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on 23 September.
The market made an all-time high yesterday
Earlier yesterday, on September 12, the Sensex had made a new all-time high of 83,116 and the Nifty of 25,433. However, later both these indices came down slightly and the Sensex rose 1,439 points (1.77%) to close at 82,962 and the Nifty rose 470 (1.89%) points to close at 25,388.
