Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki among top five in India’s most attractive brands index 2018

New Delhi: Home-grown auto majors Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki have made entry in the top five of the India’s most attractive brands index, which was topped by Korean mobile phone manufacturer Samsung.

After showing a phenomenal market performance this year, Tata motors has charted a massive jump from 181st rank last year to 2nd rank in India’s Most Attractive Brands 2018 study, carried out by Trust Research Advisory (TRA).

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki, which was at number 7 in 2017 is positioned at number 5 in the fifth edition of the report.

The third and fourth position was occupied by Apple iPhone and Reliance Jio respectively.

This year, in a total six automobile firms including Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors got featured in the pecking order of top 20 brands.

The Indian two-wheeler brand, Bajaj Pulsar made a remarkable movement of 12 ranks claiming the 17th position. Closely following it, and within a small margin of only 0.2 per cent, is the South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer, Hyundai, a brand which always displayed consistency in a rapidly evolving and demanding market.

The brand has moved straight up from rank 37 in 2015, 22 in 2016 to 13 in the year 2017 respectively, dipping down slightly to rank 18th in 2018.

Another new entry in the list of top 20 brands has been made by the Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota, ranked 19th, as a four-wheeler manufacturer.

Automobile has emerged as the top category in terms of attractiveness influence in the report which took into account 20 different categories ranging from FMCG,consumer electronics, telecom to gadgets.

This year’s research was conducted among 2,474 consumer-influences across 16 cities, and generated nearly 5 million data points and 5,000 unique brand mentions, out of which the top 1000 brands have been listed in this year’s Report.
