Chief Minister launches seminar on capacity building of women in the field of Geospatial Technology

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that encouraging participation at the local level in the multidimensional use of indigenous satellites will speed up the development process. While ensuring the implementation of space science-related technologies, activities will be conducted at every level in the state to improve the lives of the people of the state and increase the use of geospatial technology in the process of development. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a seminar on capacity building of women in the field of Geospatial Technology at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis. At the outset, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

The symposium titled “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon” on the first National Space Day, August 23, was organized by the state government in collaboration with ISRO, National Commission for Women, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, and EarthSight Foundation. Sushri Meenakshi Negi, Member Secretary of the National Commission for Women, Dr. Vinay Sahastrabuddhe, Vice President of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini and Mayor of Bhopal Smt. Malti Rai attended the seminar. Sushri Negi, Member Secretary of the National Commission for Women, presented a digital book focused on the activities of the Women’s Commission to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Good Governance, Shri Lokesh Sharma was also present in the programme.

Accuracy of Panchang shows the reliability of Indian astronomy

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has a special contribution in providing opportunities for progress to women in all fields. Along with playing an important role in public life, women in the country are also making achievements in specialized fields like space science. During the Covid period, women played an important role in making vaccines and managing health services. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that astronomy has a special place in the Indian knowledge system. The mention of planets and satellites in ancient Indian texts and various concepts in this regard is indicative of this fact. The detailed explanation and accuracy of dates in the Indian panchang system also show the credibility of Indian astronomy.

Geo-spatial technology will be helpful for public representatives

Sushri Meenakshi Negi, Member Secretary of the National Commission for Women, said that capacity building in the field of geospatial technology will make it easier for public representatives to take decisions regarding development activities. This technology will bring more transparency and speed in development activities. Vice President of Prabodhini, Dr. Vinay Sahastrabuddhe while extending wishes for the first National Space Day said that an ambitious programme has been started by the Government of India for enhancing efficiency in the field of geospatial technology. This will help the public representatives in making decisions as per the actual situation and in better monitoring of plan implementation.

Space technology is rapidly becoming an integral part of life

It was told in the programme that to commemorate the successful landing of Chandrayaan-2 on the lunar surface on August 23 last year, Prime Minister Shri Modi had called for celebrating August 23 as National Space Day. Space technology is rapidly becoming an integral part of life. Daily life is becoming easier with its use.

Besides management of all areas of development including agriculture, forests, fisheries, and water resources can also be done in a more transparent and people-oriented manner. There was a detailed discussion in the workshop for capacity building in the field of satellite technology with the aim of making women representatives more efficient and effective in the implementation of development schemes at the local level.
