Jagjit Singh suffered a brain hemorrhage
MUMBAI: Jagjit Singh one of the prominent ghazal singer, called as ‘Ghazal King’ has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after a brain hemorrhage.
The famed singer underwent emergency neurosurgery earlier Friday evening.
He has had a history of heart problem for which he was on blood thinners, which are suspected to have triggered the damage.
The 70-year-old singer suffers from hypertension too.
The veteran singer was to perform with fellow ghazal singer Ghulam Ali in Mumbai this evening.
“Performing on the same stage with a legend like Ghulam Ali is an overwhelming feeling all together. I’m thankful to the organisers for their efforts in bringing us together on such a prestigious platform,” Jagjit Singh had said in the run up to the show.
The duo had recently performed for the first time in the Delhi edition of the ‘Unplugged’ concert series.
