Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan box office collection day 4: Salman Khan’s star-power pushes film past Rs 120 crore globally

Salman Khan is proving that he remains a strong draw at the box office, even as he continues to deliver subpar material to his fans. His latest film, the family entertainer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, had a steep (but expected) drop on its first Monday, but still managed to post double-digit numbers, which is a good sign. According to early estimates, the film made approximately Rs 10 crore on its fourth day of release, after a strong showing over the weekend.

Industry tracker Sacnilk said that Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan earned Rs 10.5 crore on Monday, taking its total collection in India to Rs 74 crore in four days. The film made a soft Rs 13 crore on Friday, but showed major gains on Saturday and Sunday, earning Rs 25 crore and Rs 26 crore. The film had a total occupancy of over 15% on Monday, according to Sacnilk, and has so far grossed more than Rs 100 crore globally.

Bollywood Hungama said that the Rs 10 crore haul on day four means that the film has ‘passed’ the all-important Monday test, but noted a drop in collections in multiplexes. The performance in single screens remained impressive. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan isn’t performing at the level that Salman’s biggest hits used to, but in comparison to other post-pandemic releases, it’s doing much better than expected. It’s worth noting that KKBKKJ is practically the only major Hindi release in theatres, and was said to have as many as 16,000 shows daily.

Only a handful of Hindi movies have delivered the goods in the three years since the pandemic began. This year, only Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan proved to be a bonafide box office hit, while Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar also did solid numbers (Rs 147 crore domestically), despite reports of a bloated budget.

A remake of the 2014 film Veeram, starring Ajith, KKBKKJ is directed by Farhad Samji, and also stars Venkatesh Daggubati in a supporting role, and Jagapathi Babu as the villain. The film received poor reviews from critics, but this doesn’t seem to have deterred Salman’s die-hard fans.
