Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’ honoured as one of the best films of the century!
Recently, the British Film Institute recognized ‘Kaala,’ starring Superstar Rajinikanth, as one of the best films of the century. Despite its average box office performance, ‘Kaala’ stands out as one of the most highly acclaimed films in Rajinikanth’s celebrated career. Directed by Pa Ranjith, this socio-political gangster drama was released in 2018.
Sight and Sound, a monthly film magazine published by the British Film Institute, has recently listed the 25 best films of the century in its latest edition. Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’ is the only Indian movie on this esteemed list. This prestigious accolade has sparked widespread celebration among fans and audiences, generating significant buzz within the film industry.
The film follows Karikalan “Kaala”, the leader of Dharavi, who tries to save his land and people from getting seized by the ruthless minister Haridev “Hari Dhadha.” It stars Rajinikanth in the titular roles with Nana Patekar, Eswari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Samuthirakani, Manikandan, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, Dileepan, Sampath and others with music scored by Santhosh Narayanan.
