Hundreds Injured in China Quake
One person was killed and nearly 325 suffered injuries as a 6.0 magnitude earthquake jit everyday life in the Yunnan province of China, said Xinhua on Friday.
At least 30 people are reported to have sustained severe injuries and correspondents say the death toll could swell over the next 48 hours.
Some 400,000 people were displaced as the quake and the following aftershocks ravaged thousands of homes.
The seismic activity erupted at around 1919 hours local time in the mountain town of Guantun, some 200 km northwest of the Yunnan capital of Kunming.
Strong tremors were felt across the province, with a moderate aftershock measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale on Friday afternoon.
The area has witnessed several instances of seismic activity since the deadly 8.0 quake in neighboring Sichuan killed about 80,000 people in May 2008.
