Mehsud Vows Attacks on US: Reports
In a new video dated early April, Leader of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Hakimullah Mehsud, who is widely believed to be killing in a US drone strike in January, has pledged attacks on America, said media reports citing the SITE monitoring group.
“The time is very near when our fidaeen (soldiers) will attack the American states in the major cities,” Mehsud was quoted in the Internet video alleged to have been made on April 4, SITE reported.
Mehsud was reported to have been killed in a US bombing raid in January, but some reports last week quoted Pakistani intelligence officials as saying he had survived the strike.
Another video allegedly from Mehsud’s Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed that it was behind an attempted car bombing in New York at the weekend, although the credibility of the claim has been questioned.
