Moscow attack targeted foreigners
MOSCOW: Investigation revealed that bomb blast at airport in Moscow aimed tourists.
Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said, “It was no [coincidence] that the terrorist attack took place in the international arrivals zone.”
He said, “Investigators believe that it was directed against, in the first place, foreign nationals.”
Investigators said the blast which killed 35 people and injured more than 200 others, was carried out by a 20-year-old resident of the country’s volatile North Caucasus region.
Committee spokesman did not identify the bomber or reveal any further details.
This attack took place less than a year after two female suicide bombers from the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan attacked the Moscow metro in which 39 people died.
