Lok Adalat Offers a One-Day Settlement Window for Electricity Consumers
Close to 950 people have already confirmed participation

Bhopal
For those with pending electricity theft or irregularity cases, the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MKVVCL) is offering a hassle-free way to settle them. A National Lok Adalat on March 8 will provide consumers across 16 districts in the Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions a chance to resolve their cases with waivers and settlements.
If the case falls under Section 135, consumers may be eligible. Domestic, agricultural, and small-scale non-domestic consumers with loads up to 5 KW, as well as industrial consumers with loads up to 10 HP, can participate.
So far, 945 consumers have signed up, and MKVVCL expects to recover over Rs 1.5 crore through settlements. Cases will be handled at two levels—pre-litigation and litigation. Those settling before litigation will get a 30% waiver on assessed civil liabilities and 100% interest exemption on delayed payments. Consumers with cases already in court will receive a 20% waiver on civil liabilities along with a full interest exemption.
However, the scheme comes with conditions. The waiver applies only to first-time offences, and consumers must pay the remaining amount in one go. Regular electricity bill dues won’t be waived, and only cases with assessed civil liabilities up to Rs 10 lakh qualify.
With this offer valid only on March 8, consumers are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity and clear their cases for good.
