Black box of the Russian plane found
JAKARTA: The black box of the Russian Sukhoi Superjet plane that crashed on May 9 into Mount Salak has been found out by Indonesian search team.
The black box has been found about 100 m from the tail of the plane. The orange colour of the voice and data recorder has been lost because it was burned badly.
The data will be analyzed by Indonesian and Russian experts in Indonesia. Around two weeks can be needed for any details to be revealed in the analysis of black box.
A civilian plane made by Russia went on missing in Indonesia during a test flight. The demonstration flight was carrying potential buyers and journalists. The rescue operation was started but bad weather forces two helicopters to return back.
The plane named Sukhoi Superjet-100 took off from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 2:21 p.m. on Wednesday. Twenty minutes later the connection with the plane was lost by Radar. The bad weather was may be the reason for this.
A local villager said, “I saw a big plane passing just over my house,” he lives near 7,200-foot- (2,200-meter)- mountain.”It was veering a bit to one side, the engine roaring,” she said. “It seemed to be heading toward Salak, but I didn’t hear an explosion or anything.”
The passengers were mostly several diplomats from the Russian Embassy, potential buyers from major Indonesian airlines and journalists. The flight was a demonstration flight and of 50 minutes.
The plane is the first completely new airliner designed by Russia since the Soviet collapse. The rescue operations were expected to continue but the terrain was rough and difficult to navigate after darkness fell.
