WHO said – the threat of corona has not been postponed: a new variant or virus may come, be prepared for a more deadly epidemic
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning regarding the next pandemic after Corona. WHO Governor General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the world should be prepared for the next pandemic which could be more dangerous than Corona.
The WHO presented its report at the 76th World Health Assembly meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland. During this, Tedros said – Even though Corona is no longer a global emergency, it does not mean that there is no danger from it now. A new variant of Kovid-19 can come anytime. It may also happen that some new disease may emerge which is more dangerous than this. In such a situation, we have to prepare from now.
Tedros said in the meeting – Kovid-19 has been the most dangerous disease of the century. When Corona came, we were not ready to face it. But another pandemic will definitely come and we will have to face it together in every way. About 70 lakh people died due to Corona, while the actual figure could be more than 20 million. Looking at this, we need to make necessary changes in our health sector as soon as possible.
The pandemic also affected progress on the triple billion target announced at the 2017 World Health Assembly meeting. Tedros said that even though Corona was a big challenge for our target, it also showed us why it is important to maintain focus on sustainable goals. This generation has a commitment not to compromise with the pandemic because it is they who have experienced how terrifying a small virus can be.
Earlier on May 5, the WHO announced that Corona is no longer a Global Health Emergency. The reason for this was attributed to the rapidly decreasing active case and death figures. Tedros had said – We got a lot of success because of the vaccination. Now the pressure on the health system has also reduced a lot. Most countries have returned to normal life.
About 70 lakh people died in the world due to Covid. It was declared a Global Emergency on 30 January 2020. Most people were killed in America due to Kovid. Its first case in India was found in Kerala on 27 January 2020. According to Outbreak India, so far more than 4.49 crore cases of corona have come in the country. There have been more than 5.31 lakh deaths due to the virus. At the same time, the figure of vaccination has crossed 220 crores.
